Sikeston Career Center

Program offers trained workforce professionals to assist clients with skills assessment, job training, employment search and workshops. Services include assessment of workplace skills, knowledge, abilities and strengths; National Career Readiness Certification providing evidence to potential employers of applicants skills; resume writing; career workshops; training programs for laid off workers to gain skills for employment; on the job training and staff assisted job search services. Clients also have access to computers, printers, copiers, scanners, fax machines and phones at no charge to assist with job search. Some programs can provide assistance with transportation and other work related expenses as funding allows.
Disabled Veterans Outreach Program is located at the Career Center. Program offers career guidance, job search, resume preparation, Work Keys Testing, and on the job training for Veterans with a service-connected disability rated 10% or higher from the Veterans Administration. Must be between ages 18 and 24, separated from the military within the past 3 years and been unemployed for at least 27 consecutive weeks in the past 12 months. Income guidelines apply, receiving public assistance or living at a low income level. Program can also refer to HUD/VASH case manager for supportive housing services. Program covers Cape Girardeau, Scott and Perry Counties.
