Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri

Offices located in both Cape Girardeau and Sikeston.  Catholic charities provides multiple services including disaster response and long term recovery services for the bootheel region and across the state.  Housing services are also provided to those who are at imminent risk of losing their primary residence, have an eviction notice and a household income below 30% of their county’s median income.  Housing services are also available through Support Services for Veteran Families.  Eligible veteran families must be homeless or at immediate risk of homelessness, have a discharge status other than dishonorable, and have a household income that does not exceed 50% of the area median income.

Also provides Healthy Babies, Healthy Moms program which is designed to assist women facing an unplanned pregnancy who have chosen to carry their child to term.  Services offered include but are not limited to maternity and baby items, parenting and life skills training, health and nutrition, information and referrals to medical and community resources, prenatal and post natal education and on-going support and education during baby’s first year.  Program available in 19 counties including Bollinger County, Cape Girardeau County, Scott County, and Stoddard County.

Additional services are available through Developmentally Disabled Service Coordination.  Program provides service and support coordination in Cape Girardeau and Scott Counties.  The individual must have a developmental disability diagnosis prior to the age of 22 and have a referral from Sikeston Regional Center.

For Cape Girardeau County only:  The Senior Home Repair Program assists home owners age 60 and over with needed home repairs.  Must have yearly household income that is 80% or less of the Average Median Income for Cape Girardeau County ($29,900 for one person, $34,200 for two people).  Costs for any one project are limited to $2,000.  Program utilizes both volunteers and professional labor.

Catholic Charity offices can also assist those applying for SNAP benefits (food stamps) by checking eligibility and helping with sign-up and recertification.  Call the local office for assistance.  Agency website is:  http://ccsomo.org
