Head Start – Scott County
Head Start is a child development program designed for three to five-year-old children from low-income families that works to break the cycle of poverty. The Head Start approach involves including the parent as the child’s primary educator. Program works to meet children’s needs through health, nutrition, education and parent involvement. Program can also work to address children with disabilities.
Early Head Start (EHS) programs support the mental, social and emotional development of children from birth to age 3. In addition to education and care services, programs provide children and their families with health, nutrition, social, and other services. EHS services are responsive to each child and family’s ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage.
Chaffee Head Start is ages 3-5 only. Offers transportation for Scott City children in the program.
Sikeston Head Start also offers an Early Head Start program for children ages birth to 3 years.
