Perry County Community Task Force

Agency offers multiple programs focused on youth with a special emphasis on assisting at-risk youth to avoid delinquency or anti social issues and move toward a successful future.

CHAMPS- Communities Helping Adolescents Mature Positively and Successfully is a youth mentoring program for in-school youth grades K-12 in Perry County. Program matches adult volunteers with youth to offer support and guidance on a weekly basis.

SA – Seeking Answers support group for teens offering support and assistance to youth age 16-21 years old who are seeking answers to substance use issues.

SAAS – Seeking Answers About Situations is a support group for youth age 12-15 years old who are seeking answers, not only about substance abuse issues, but also about many other socialization concerns.

YAP – Youth and Parents is a program for youth of all ages and their parents to attend together and topics are determined by those involved in the group.

Out of School Program for youth up to age 24 who have dropped out of school. Program works to give support and guidance by helping youth believe in themselves, set goals, complete their education, learn soft skills to get a job, and acquire the people skills to move forward in employment and life.

HALO – Healthy Alternatives for Little Ones is a prevention program for 4-6 year-old children. The 15-week program is designed to strengthen protective factors and reduce risk factors by helping children develop resiliency skills, self-discipline, problem-solving strategies, and tolerance of people and situations different from their own.

Life Skills Training is an evidence-based program available for grades seven through twelve. Program provides students with knowledge and skills to: develop a positive self-image; think clearly and make informed decisions; cope with pressure from the media; manage anxiety; communicate effectively; build healthy relationships; handle social situations; resist peer pressure; and say no to tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs.

Girl’s Circle program is open to girls in 7th and 8th grade. Program uses evidence-based curriculum to provide opportunities for girls to lead a life that includes being informed; making positive choices; experiencing shared power; and having positive options for a safe, healthy, and productive future.

Agency also provides an 8th grade Prevention Conference and a Junior/Senior Conference to help with transitions and life choices during high risk times of change. Visit the website at http://www.pcctf.org/home.html
