Voices for Children / CASA

Provides well trained, court-appointed volunteer advocates to serve as independent monitors and advocates for abused and neglected children in and out of foster care, under the jurisdiction of the Thirty-Second and Thirty-Third Judicial Circuit Courts. CASA volunteers investigate cases, facilitate the delivery of services to the child and family, advocate on behalf of the child to the Court, and monitor the progression of the case until it is resolved. Goals are to ensure that the child’s immediate and long term needs are met while in foster care: that a healthy, permanent placement is secured for each child in a timely fashion and to heighten public awareness and response to the needs of the abused and neglected children. Agency also offers Fostering Futures program for children ages 14-21 who will age out of foster care. Volunteers will spend one on one time with youth and will help with setting and working toward goals. They will also assist with acquiring practical knowledge, such as budgeting, setting doctor’s appointments, finding jobs and housing, engaging in healthy relationships, how to locate and access community resources, and in general, developing knowledge and skills to facilitate a successful transition to adulthood.
